mechanical vs vac advance
im thinkin of taking the vac advance off of my MSD and locking it up with the parts they sent with the dizzy. could somebody please explain to me the advantages and disadvantages of mechanical advance?

the vacum advance will be a little nicer on cold starts and low rpm driving, but both will be the same at WOT. i have ran both, there is not much difference. with an ignition box, you wont have any issues running either. i tried this out on another car of mine a while back, i actually ended up keeping it mechanincal.

I don't think locking out vacuum advance is the same as a mechanical advance.
Mechanical advance has weights & springs to adjust the advance at low revs. Like Sweet2K says, at some rpm (around 3500) advance is all in & stays there. |
