worth buying???

i found a 2.3 4cyl foxbody mustang running i assume (says "gets good gas mileage") for $125...is it worth buying?? i don't want to keep the 2.3. i would like to put in a 302 or maybe a 351. whatever is cheap and easy to work on (and whatever has cheap engine parts) i don't wanna have to spend a ton of money on an engine though (i don't mind buying a stock motor) when i can just a buy a v8 foxbody in the first place...

so would a 302 bolt right in? or would it require some fab work (another thing i'd like to avoid)? if it will bolt right in then fine but otherwise i'd rather get a foxbody that already has a v8 and then build the current motor. and if it would bolt in then what about the transmission? would i need a new one?

i saw that the 2.3 forum doesn't get many posts...and this is sort of a 5.0 topic since i'd like to do the 302 swap

And it will save you the hassle of doing a motor swap and all!

you can find foxes relatively cheap. they are a dime a dozen. just make sure you check the torque boxes and floor for cracks. the torque boxes like pulling away from the body.

i think i may do it. and i have been looking at some 302's and they are cheap...for example there is a complete 302 WITH transmission for $700

so the total would be 825 which is probably less than most of the 5.0 foxes i've seen. i saw ONE for $600 ("needs a little work") but turns out it already sold. so will a v8 bolt in?

most foxes are around 1K or more. i did see a few for 800 and 850 but they are gone now.

93 is right, it wont end up there...
You will need new motor and trans mounts, trans member, figure it all out, if its EFI, than youll need the harness, and body harness and comp. You will also want to swap in an 8.8 rear end, and if the trans dosent have a shifter youll need one of those to.. And beofre you know it, youve spent more than you thought..

Brett!

+54618641348 for the brat. might as well just buy a stang w/ 5.0 already in. its going to add up to way more if you buy the 4cyl and do the swap

it is worth spending the 1500-2500 on a 5.0 car i personally love the 85 even though i have an 88. the thing is you will have to redo the fuel system, all the wireing, suspension, motor swap, transmission, rear end, trust me. drive a 4cylender then drive a 5.0 (not just the power difference) but handeling too.

can it be done? hell yes and has been done alot. if you plan on building a car from the ground up and you just want a roller then buy it. if you think you are gonna buy it drop in a 5.0 and drive the hell out of it....think again.

125 is worth the body and interrior if its in good condition.
