AMP light came on...

So i was driving the car tonite to Hooters to watch the Dallas Game with some friends... about 10 minutes into driving i notice the dash lights are dim then look at the battery status.... needle is a little below 1/4, WTF did i do now haha

I then parked it in a parkin lot and hopped in a friends car and continued goin. After went to get it, started up but sat at 1/4 battery volt or what ever u wanna call it... drove it home about 15 miles away takin side roads if it died just pull over........... so i get closer to home the meter keeps dropping? start out in 1st it spudders... then pops from the engine bay area u can hear it. Shift spudders pops... i thinkin i may need to replace the wires... but i think the battery itself is bad... takin it to autozone tomorrow to have them check it, any idea of what it could be?

battery, alternator, plugs, wires, vac leaks?

any help would be greatly appreciated, its almost time to rip it all apart anyway!!!

my guess is alternator

would it make a popping sound tho? im takin the battery to get tested tomorrow... it looks fairly new tho so it leaves me to think alternator.........

bah more money i think i should just pull the motor and start the rebuild of the motor and tranny early!

popping noise could have been the battery since thats what the car was running off of basically, did it start bubbling over?

didn't bother lookin... its to cold out right now i will look tomorrow morning when i wake up, the sound came from the passenger side... complete other side of the battery
