I put a 6A on my Bronco and it changed the plugs from a dark brown to a light tan (text book plug reading) all it had done is a TB and headers.

OK to answer your question I think they do help in an older less efficent cars and trucks I think they help by making the spark faster and hotter to burn all fuel

MSD boxes increase the spark and make's it so all the plug's fire when there supposed to and not skip a beat.
Would be beneficial on a stock 5.0L considering there notorious for mis-fire.

in a bone stock car it is not worth the money.
once you start messing with the compression nitrous or boost along with changing the fuel system and trying to advance your timing then it would be benificial to have a better ignition system but the ignition box is not the only component of the system the distrubitior, coil, ignition box, wires all work together if you have crapy wires and a pos distrubitior and a crapy coil its not going to matter what ignition box you have. i would start with the plugs, wires and coil. keep your cap and rotor nice and clean too.

i found a pro comp dist... knock off coil and knock off 6AL... for 230 the 6AL has a soft touch rev limiter... think it would be worth it?
