okay so talking to this girl at work today her boyfriend is in some "car club" or something...and it's been cold outside and stuff and she asked for a ride to her car since she parked in the back of the lot..so i did and just for show because i know she likes cars i hit in 1st gear just a little bit and she says.."nice you should race my boyfriend" so we talked about it and called him i talked to him and he agreed to run me he has an 2002 WRX Wagon, with a bigger turbo and he's running about 16psi (they run like 13 stock) well i told him i'll do it but not from a stop but i'll go from a 10 mph roll. he agreed. So question is do you think i will need nitrous to out run him?? I'm not thinking i will, for the following reasons...at 10 mph he'll barley be in rpms and turbo won't be spooled up and unless he clutches it the car won't be in boost when we take off...and being that its a wagon it probably weighs the same or more than my car. and the cars are rated at like 227 HP at the crank and im sure his extra 3 psi is probably giving him an extra 20 or so HP. So 250HP at the crank. through an AWD drivetrain. and the car only makes about 217 lb/ft torque. So i'm thinking with the extra torque from my car and his lack of boost when we first take off that i should be able to pull on him and stay out on him what do you guys think??

Hmmm....I am curious as well. I was presented the same race actually. The guy has a 2002 WRX but he just upped the boost on the stock turbo and exhaust. But I have no clue as to what the run stock. But I know they can be quick because of that damn all wheel drive.

What is your HP? Usually with an all wheel drive car you want to be a couple more HP then he has. I could be wrong. Someone else chime in.

well mine is stock i so whatever it might be...but at the same time from low rolls i've out ran a 89 GT with full bolt on's, and also pulled about a bumper on an 03 GT with exhaust...so i dunno the car might have other things done to it...I have a kit i got from a friend that i haven't put on the car, with 2 jets at 75 shot and one for a 125 shot.

you will need the nitrous with stock gears. your car doesnt even run 13's stock and just cause its a 10mph roll just means he will start in first and i bet he will be in boost. if he starts in 2nd it wont take long to start boostin. if i were you i would get the bottle.

I just went back and read your mods....Dude you are going to get raped if you dont use that kit. That all wheel drive is a bitch. Then the fact that he has a bigger turbo and is running about 16 pounds of boost. Not looking good. Even if he cant drive that well, he is still going to hook. And once the boost comes on, kiss your ass goodbye.. Definitely get the kit as fast as you can. Killem, take his money and then take his girl. LOLOL. got ya...i mean i've had turbo cars before so i just know how it is...with building boost i mean at 10 mph his car will probably be at 1500 rpms or so. and your right i dont think my car would go but low 14's, but i don't think the WRX is a 13 sec. car either...remember its not an STi just WRX

thats true i say go ahead and run him but if you can get the bottle in do it its always good to have a plan b. if you cant bump your timing up a little take your spair tire out and your back seat if you can. make sure his g/f rides with him and you are alone. run your tank way down and run premimum. i would give your car a nice tune up in the morning clean the throttle body out with carb cleaner while your revving it. clean your maf. get a k&n air filter if you dont have one already. maybe get a shorter belt and bypass your ac and power steering.

or just make up an excuse that you have a date with a hot girl (maybe try to get with one of her friends) then re schedule the race for when you have the kit in.
