more 351w top end questions

Are the original heads on a 351w similar to the GT40-P heads?

What is the info on the stock cam in the engine?

Currently I have an aftermarket flywheel/clutch. Can I transfer it over no questions asked to the 351w? same question with the pullies.

What size carb comes on the stock 351w?

thanks in advance

similar as in what? they will fit but you may to drill out the holes holes for the head bolts
to 1/2 inch.those heads are gonna choke the engine they maybe an improvement on a 302 but add 49 more cubes and it wont be .what year and what vehicle did the engine come from.5.0s are 50oz imbalance and 351s are 28oz imbalance.

yea you can put your GT40 P on like said you will need to drill the holes. I also think they are a bit small for a 351 but remember that Ford put GT40s on the Lighting so its not like it has not been done. No you can not put your flywheel on the 351 unless it is a 28oz balance same goes for your balancer your pulleys should work and I would run a 750 carb that way you have some room to grow.

Well i was gonna use size referance of heads to compare to my windsor jr. heads. Will these heads make any improvement at all to the engine? I was already told that my e303 cam is pointless to throw in their unless someone says otherwise.

im currently debating which engine to grab. One out of a '69 mustang or one out of a '94 truck. '69 is stronger and is fully rebuilt. '94 is already roller, low miles. both are ready to be dropped in and fired up. both the same price....

victor jr, afr,or trick flow heads, victor jr intake, BIG solid roller cam. I would go with the 69 engine and do the above mods.

Don't just throw a big cam in it, be smart and research what you are going to invest in. Any factory head is going to be semi restrictive, installing a big cam is not going to fix the problem.

The '69 engine is a short deck, 9.480" compared to the 9.50" which the later years have. You will have less room for decking the block and higher compression (which isn't a bad thing) You will have to check piston to valve clearance as the shorter deck may require larger valve reliefs or indexing the cam for better clearance.

As far as the roller cam, you can run one in the 69 with the proper lifters ($400 but well worth the money). If you are going to run a roller be sure you get a solid, you won't regret it either. Solid cams rev up so much faster.

I run a dart block myself with a .000 deck, running a .700" 310*/312* duration @.050" solid roller cam with a small dome piston with reliefs and have plenty of room for clearance.

good luck on your decision !!!!!!!!!!!

for a street engine a set of 185cc TFs or AFRs with a Edelbrock torker2 intake and a comp cams xtreme energy roller cam(CCA-35-518-8)summit part #.with a Holley 650cfm carb.this combination should give you great power from 2000-6500rpm and be fun since you would have a torquey engine that would breathe well too.

the windsor jr. heads I have are 185cc, so wouldnt they work well (maybe better maybe worse) than the ones you listed?

You don't say what you intend to do with this motor. That is the main driving force in the decisions you make.

I personnaly would not put anything smaller than a 215 (equivalent) head on a 351 as I like to have room to grow. This however may not suit your needs.
