My friend offered me a 4.6 out of a 1993 lincoln mark viii for a couple hundred bucks. Id like to put it in my 91 5.0 but im not sure what all i would need, obviously a new manual trans from a newer mustang, but as far as computers go what would control this motor out of a car that only came in auto? help please before i buy it.
because i wanna build a road course car, and automatics bore me haha, i still always shut off my daily in drive as soon as i pull the ebrake thinking its a manual.
t45s are usually pretty cheap used. and sean is right, wiring will be the hard part. But the 4.6 swap is common, it has been done quite a few times so there should be plenty of literature around online that would help you out.maybe like this
you should also get the entire wiring harness and pcm and a Lincoln EVTM (wiring book) for that year mark8 .you can go to your local lincoln dealer and order a evtm. you will need a 4.6 k member like a QA1 for example. an electric fan preferably a mark8 fan from the same year car.you will also need a cobra 8 bolt flywheel.A t45 ,t3650,t56 or TR6060 trans all came stock in mustangs and fit 4.6s. you could convert it over to a carb if you really wanted.Fast xfi is one of the stand alone computers that would run you engine with a little modification.
