Thoughts on turbo charging a carbureted motor

See in the next year I am boring my 302 out. I don't know what I want to bore it out to but I want to twin turbo it afterwards. Which bore kit and turbo system would be best.

Keep in mind a stock block is good for 500-550 crank HP. I would hope any twin turbo kit would be able to get to that level. That being said, your block would be on borrowed time at that HP level so putting any money into it might not be a good idea.

full bolt ons and nitrous or a big blower. but make sure you dont forget to upgrade the suspension. no point in making 500whp if youre not putting it to the ground...

carbs are hard enough to get right when NA , much less turbo , you are asking for a headache IMO

IMO first you have to wake up from this dream..really.....first the 302 is a waste of time with a turbo, being weak in the lfter valley....A 351 platform would be way more reliable and gives alot more stoker options! all for close to the same coin

go with the big inch windsor. youll be happier. 351 stroked and poked...you could do a fast EFI setup on it but if you want to go the cheap route then id just spray with a carb. alot easier than trying to tune the carb for a blower or turbo.

everyone always says its harder to tune a turbo carb than efi. I say BULLSHIT. Now if this is a daily driver, stay efi and go with a 351w base. But if this is a track car, go carb! If youre stuck on stock block do step up to the 351 though. As for tuning, with a good modified carb or special made carb for blow through, tuning can be simple. with efi unless you own a dyno and all the software and hardware needed to tune, you wont be doing any of it yourself. With the carb you can mess with it to get it where you like it without a trip to the local shop.

Though I am a little biased seeing as I run a blow thru set up. EFI is easier for the DD but I like tunability on my time so carbed works for me

if its not your daily driver definitely do a blowthrough turbo setup just do a single turbo if you want more room and spend less money.check out turbomustangs.com if you want more information.
