begining the rebuild

So i tore down my engine tonight this is what i have found

Have no idea what that stuff is but it came from the oil pan which is prolly
why i had low oil pressure

One of the main bearings they all had copper showing

Rod bearings are pretty much all the same with copper showing

So what are your plans for the rebuild? It is often more cost effective to replace parts rather than have them worked. Case in point. If you plan on having ARP rod bolts installed you need to have the rods re-sized. I assume from what I see it will need to be bored so you are looking at a balance anyway and it's probably cheaper to replace the rods then to have them re-sized.

I'm sure the crank needs to be cut and if the areas where the seals go are scored it may be cheaper just to replace the crank with another cast unit. Here it's 100.00 to cut the crank and another 50 or so to sleeve the seal area. You can replace it for 240 or so and you have something that is still serviceable god forbid you spin a bearing a year from now.

So im going to be doing a budget build for a my daily driver and this is my first time build. The block will be cleaned with all new bearings, lifters, hardend pushrods, Oil pump and hardend shaft, Main gridle, windage tray and etc... So i need some Ideas for a budget combo.

Ideas
Cobra, GT40, Typhoon, Intake
Port my E7's or get GT40's
1.6 RR's or 1.7RR
TFS1 cam (51402000)
70mm TB

Things have so far:
BBK shorties
BBK OR/H
Flowmaster cat back
CAI
BBK Regulator
3:73's
MAF Conversion
ADS superchip
24lb injectors
190lph Walbro fuel pump

Any thoughts would help, like I said it will be my first build

What he said. That will be a great street motor. It'll feel really fast have a little lope but not give you any problems driving it day to day.

As far as the heads. IMO it's not worth porting E7's especially if you have to ship them somewhere. If you can find GT-40's for a reasonable price then that is the way to go but keep in mind that you can get performance irons, that will blow away a GT40 for 1073.00 (from us) so don't dump 8 or 9 hundred bucks in a set of stock castings.

And stock springs will not work with that cam. I used a TFS 1 with a set of "upgraded" springs that were slightly stiffer then stock and had a 6K revlimiter due to valve float. Make sure you budget in the springs and any other mods you'll need for the heads before you make a purchase.

1.7 rockers would be a good idea but you have to think if that is what you're gonna want to run down the road. A good set of rockers can move from head to head (assuming you are going to go to studs) so spend that $275 once and get something you can reuse on the next build.

that isnt as bad as the 350 we just pulled out of my buddies ride ; D. haha but yeah...your ideas look good, and the best thing to do with your e7's would be to sell them or scrap lol

What kind of springs should i look into? or would it be more cost efficent to use 1.6 RR's?

dude for real you shouldn't just re ring that motor. Trust me dude I'm the king of the ghetto re ring budget build but that motor looks like it needs to be sleeved or bored. And I would at least have the crank looked at.

whats the cobra your putting in this? do you not realize the 93 cobra motor is same everything minus heads, intake, cam, tb, maf that bull crap...same block, same internals..i wouldnt waste ur time on the professional products parts..i havent heard much good about them..you can find a stock cobra/gt40 intake for under 200 used..will make same if not better numbers than the typhoon...and its not jap made...if you are looking for a basic street engine..try this

try and find someone to bore that block .030 over...throw some basic .030overbore pistons and the stock rods and crank back in...try and get some gt40p heads..use a gt40/cobra intake, use your tfs cam you want or look at a nice anderson cam...you dont exactly need 1.7 roller rockers for that mild a motor.. then just add you tb, maf, and fuel pump and you might have to get a set of headers that will work with the gt40ps..but that set up is pretty cheap and with traction is good for 12's all day
