Question about 3g alternator upgrade
Can i just buy a autozone 95 mustang alternator or do i need to order it from like PA performance?
Also those 3g one wire alternator are they easier to install because of the one wire set up or not? What are the cons and pros of going one wire? Thank you |

I bought a whole upgrade kit from a guy on Ebay that makes them.... it was easy and cheaper than just going and getting one from autozone...

I bought a brand new 3g 130 from autozone with the life time warrenty...... cut the harness out of a 94 in the junkyard and haven't had any problems since. If and when it fails i can just return it for a new one at any autozone
![]() If you want it to fit within the stock alt bracket without having to hack up the bracket make sure it's a small case 3g alt which I think only came on sn95 stangs in 94 and 95 Also don't forget you have to upgrade the charge wire to at least a 4 gauge and do the same to the ground or you could cause a fire |

i bought a 95 mustang 130 amp alt from autozone it will wire up to the stock wireing you just have to cut and splice some wires. also get a 4 gauge wire to run from the altornator to the battery. the only thing you have to do is grind the bracket a little.

3g Alt
I just installed my 3G from PA performance, and what a difference it made. 130 amp and it puts out 80 amps at idle. I had to run a new power wire from the altonator to the solonoid. It was a much heavier guage than the stock wire. With everything on I am putting out between 12.8 and 13.5 volts at the battery which is in the trunk, and around 15.5 right out of the altonator. See list below. Next will be electric fan and water pump.
1 heater full speed 2 winshield wiper full speed 3 rear defoger 4 head lights 5 fog lights 6 stereo |

Any 3g alternator can be adapted to a fox body.

what if your not running the factory voltage wires and all that stuff. Can I just ground it to the chassis and run the one wire back to solenoid and be done with it?

Change all the wires...... Two wires go straight to the solenoid ... The main charge wire I would suggest going to at least a 6ga and the other wire a 10ga .... one goes to the ignition wire....and one wire on the alt is a jumper wire.
