AC & Heater now that it is winter, my heater doesn't wor

So I bought my car a few mons back and thought nothing of it when I bought it, but now that it is cold as hell i want to fix it. My ac and heater do not work at all, when I switch it on it does nothing. I was wondering if anyone has a bought a car like this and fixed the problem or how I could fix it. thanx.

Nope. Nothing comes on, the ac, heat, defroster, nada.... i'm trying to decide if I should just buy a car that doesn't have this problem. The only reason why I wanna keep this one is because it is an all black interior

Actually I don't have a lot of excess money. But the fact that this car has no ac unit on it, the heater doesn't work, the defrosters don't work, hell the fan doesn't even turn on. I was asking for some insight on this matter and I don't see how making smart a** comments are going to help me. You would be thinking of ghetting a new car too when you have to drive in 30 degree weather and have no heater or defroster.....

Check the heavy (I believe) yellow wire from the solenoid into the passenger side firewall, it supplies power to my fan unit, maybe it's open or not connected. Usually you can at least get High fan if the motor control is burned out. Check your fuses also. Look under the dash near the fan control, a wire maybe off as you never know what a previous owner has done and it could be quite simple to fix.

How about abit of Christmas cheer guys to a fellow enthusiast in need.

Thanx you guys, I'm going to try that. If I can't get it to work, man I don't know. Someone is selling a notch shell with everything but a engine and tranny for 1500, so I'm thinking about buying that and switching my stuff over...I have always wanted a notch.

If everything else is okay with the car , why not have a garage look at it, probably under a $100 will have it going, other than a seized fan I haven't heard of these motors causing alot of problems, usually just the resistor blower motor controls die.

Good luck

When I first bought my car the damn heater core was leaking. I knew what a pain in the behind that is to fix so I called a few local shops in the area to get some prices on fixing it. One local shop quoted me a really good deal so I took it there. When I got the car back the vents didnt work, the only thing that did was defrost (and they had worked when I took it in). I guess I got what I paid for, heh.

i have the same problem but didnt take it 2 a shop, ive been told that if the unit that is in the dash with the controls goes bad then the car defaults to defrost only
