All you 94-95 5.0 GUYS! NEED OPINIONS!

My buddy has a 94 5.0 and his motor is trashed. He's debating weather to put a new 302 in and build it a little (he's only 18 so theres not a whole bunch of money to spend) or get a 99+ GT.

If he keeps the 5.0 he'll also have to get the body repainted.

Should he go the 5.0 route? If so wheres a good place to get the motor? What should he watch out for? Whats good cheap, power improving mods?

just go pull a motor out of a 97 1/4 or later mountaineer/explorer

if he does that he'll have a good starting point, just pull that motor you can probably find it in junk yards for 400-600 bucks, change out the cam and all the valve train for another 400, put it in the car buy a nitrous kit, and gears, and you're looking at a low 13 or high 12 second car for somewhere around 1000-1500

If you're buddy is doing this on the cheap then here ya go, Ford Mustang Short-Block Engine Rebuild - Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords Magazine

Then find a cheap used cam, or some 1.7 roller rockers and be done with it

pretty much a cobra motor....just like the 93-95 has same heads and intake....just need to swap out the cam

Not just 97 1/2 its any 5.0 explorer from 96-02 or 96 until they went mod motor
