94 GT 5.0 Idle/mods

Hello guys. I am new mustang owner, love the car, I have a couple of thing I could use help with. First my car: 1994 GT 5.0 red with white stripes black Katzkin interior, 01 gt 17" rims Car had a 408 stroker 500 plus HP in it, the engine was damaged, I bought the car and put a stock 302 with new computer. It has upgraded suspension, description says 90 - 50, don’t know what that means. 373 8.8 rear end (I might be of by a number), 5 speed tremec transmission, stage two clutch and plate, under the body re-enforcements, small roll cage and other thing I am still learning about. I drive it as much as I can, not every day. It has an idling problem, it loops and cuts off half the time, there are two vacuum lines coming from the right fender into the engine compartment that are open, I block them and the problem is still there. Is this a computer problem, does it need to be program/tuned? I have done the .98 volt adjustment, didn’t help. Any idea what could be the problem with the idle? I got an E303 cam; I am ordering new timing chain and water pump, trick flow intake and cold air intake so they can be replaced when the cam goes in, heads are expensive they have to wait. After the cam and other parts are installed do I have to take it in for tuning? Can I wait until the heads are changed?
Thanks for the help

i think he's talking about the 2 big lines that come off the vaccum tree right above the brake booster.

The lines are coming from the fender, right by the air filter. There are 4 line, two went to the EGR valve and the other two are open, one is yellow and the other one light blue. 5/32" + - hose. I can get picture later on.

the car should not have idle issues if it is stock , the cam will only make your idle problems bigger , if the car already has a cam in it you might only need a tune , but if its stock then you definitely have an issue that needs to be solved before you throw a cam in it , but on a side note tearing it down to put the cam in might allow you to find/see things as you tear it down that might be the problem

Are you running the same mass air meter you did with the 408?

^ good question. you should start with the basic things that affect the idle like the IAC and the TPS (both sensors are on the throttle body). It may be one or both of those need to be replaced. Or it could be a vacuum problem since you have loose vacuum lines. Have you checked fuel pressure???

I am running the stock mass air meter; the stock engine came with it. I did install a brand new computer. Haven’t check fuel pressure, I will do that next. I had a shop hook up a computer to it and the only bad sensor was the temperature sending one, I replaced it. No other sensor showed bad, the TPS showed 1.02 volt so I made the adjustment to .98 volts, I had to modify the holes big time to get there. I cannot guarantee what cam is in it, I bought the engine used, when it idles normal it does not feel like it has a cam, but again I am new to the mustang world, everything is not normal or not. I appreciate the help guys, keep it coming we can resolve this….

Let me see what I can do on the vedeo, I'll try to have this weekend. I ordered the water pump, timing gear kit and radiator blue hoses, and some other miner stuff. I am getting rady to tear it down and replaced the cam and as I build it back up replace all vac lines as I go. Open to any sugestions....
