ford pushrod motors reliable?

I currently have a mustang with a 351 in it and its been broke more than working right. And it seems like most my friends with 5.0 are having problems as well. My question is once i get all the kinks worked out are ford pushrod motors reliable? I know chevy and dodge are still using them but if im not mistaken fords design is nothing but a reworked 60's design.

the push rod motor is probably one of the most reliable designs ever. The ohc engines are more efficient. But to answer your question yes they are very reliable.

oh yes... plenty reliable. i know of push rod 5.0's that have well over 200k miles on them - without a rebuild! when i took the heads off at 125k in mine, everything inside still looked new and fresh! i would never question these motors on their reliability. now, i can see there being issues with some of the crappy components, (like the balancers, dizzy, fuel lines etc...) but the engines themselves are awesome.

I have had seven Mustangs since 87 all push rod 302's over 800k miles combined. I think they hold up pretty well.
