cam comparison with my combo

Hi all,

My combo is in my sig... GT40p heads, GT40 explorer upper/lower, 1.7 roller rockers, and a few other goodies. Nothing has been ported. I'm considering a cam... After some research I think I want the Steeda #19, but my question is whether it would really be worth it???

Would I see significant improvements with the Steeda 19 with 1.7's over the stock GT cam with 1.7's with my GT40p heads??? I know that sometimes if you put a cam in these cars and you don't have the heads to support it then it will actually hurt your performance... Obviously, I don't want to go backwards. So let me know (as far as hp/tq numbers go) what you think the Steeda 19 would add to my combo. I was originally wanting to do an AFM b-21 cam, but I've decided I don't want to go that radical, so the Steeda is the best choice for me I think. If anyone has another suggestion please let me know. Thanks in advance,
Will

the B-cam and the Steeda 19 have both around the same specs. If the steeda has a wider lobe seperation than get that one since it would give you better driveability.I dont think Iron GT-40s move air above .500in.An E cam is hit or miss with a SN95 and could cause driveability problems.the b or 19 cam with 1.7s would give you around .510 lift.you would be better off with 1.6rockers since their are not many cams with lift under
.500 in of lift.

I don't want a letter cam... I was looking at the Steeda #19, the Anderson B-21, and I haven't looked at anything else yet... Comp?

Can someone verify that my GT40P heads wont push air past a .500 lift cam? I want to keep my 1.7 rr's cuz I don't want to have to buy another set. Say I get a cam that has more lift than the air my heads can move, will that hurt my performance rather than help it?

I should also mention that I'm planning on nitrous in the future... Probably 125/150 shot. So what's a good cam for the spray??

if you want a cam for spray get as much duration split as you can to help the nitrous work.

example a 224/228 cam wont work as well as a 224/236 split cam

That a bold statement to make.....

You custom grind cams.....???

What are the ramp rates and valve timing on each of those cams?????

Not really. I estimate you have about 280rwhp/325rwtq now and with the Steeda 19, you'll gain some HP but lose some torque. If you're going to change cams at all, I suggest you go for either the CompCams XE270HR-12 or the Anderson B-31. Both will produce almost identical results with more torque across the board than the stock cam and an estimated 290rwhp/330rwtq. Not a big difference so you'll need to decide if the cost is worth it.
Incidentally, both of the cams I mentioned have a longer exhaust duration which will help with a nitrous set-up, and the 112* LSA should keep valve overlap and idle quality at a manageable level.
