31 splines on the cheap???

i have a buddy that tld me i could get a trac loc carrier from a 4wd explorer and it will have 31 spline spider gears?? true not true kinda ??

yes, or a truck f150, the trucks also have the 7/8 pinion shaft as to the cars 3/4

All late model f-150s came wtih 8.8s from the late 80s to present

79-80 up until 1996 with any motor any trans etc etc. Now if you want a trac lock unit that will take some hunting, as more came with open dif's than track locs. Towing packages and another option gives you the track lock

Get one from an F-150 and it will be a 31 spline 8.8 carrier with the 7/8 pinion shaft which is better than the 3/4 the others come with.

Ive pulled out over 100 and not a single one was 28 spline, rangers yes, but I have yet to see a fullsize truck with 31's

i mustve been unlucky with my 86. i know for a fact it had 28.

I believe 1990's Explorers have a 31-spline 8.8 rear axle with a 3.73 gear as standard. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I know it's a popular swap into Jeep Cherokee XJ's.
