94 tko transmission question

So i bought a 94 gt that just had the engine built this summer, i just took it on the highway the first time after owning the car since the beging of winter. When i get into high rpms at 3rd, 4th, and 5th gear i hear a loud scratching/grinding. The more i give it gas, the more it grinds. When i clutch it it stops. The previous owner says it has a new tko transmission in it and i was wondering if thats normal in that type of aftermarket transmission. Or any other ideas as to what it could be.

Ya thats what i was assuming, just seeing if anyone out there knew anything about those types of transmissions or what kind of problems i may be looking at.

I'm not an expert ,but it's hard to diagnose things over the internet...hope you get it worked out though
