so i lowered my car this weekend...

well the title says it. i lowered my car this weekend and now everytime i get on it real hard the whole back of the car lifts up. i am guessing to do with the pinion angle being changed. so my question is if i put aftermarket non adjustable rear control arms on will they get rid of that or am i going to have to but the adjustable ones to get my pinion angle right?

You're definitely going to need adjustable uppers to correct the pinion angle.

ya bullet thats what i was thinking too. i saw in jegs they have a dual adjustable upper control arm that looks pretty good thats probably what ill end up going with.

its pretty nutty will. it feels like the rear of the car is lifting like 6 inches from sitting inside it. im not sure if its lifting that much at all or if its even noticable from the out side but its driving me crazy driving it.

LOL, I thought the same thing too, when you get on the gas the back should go down not up, the front should come up.

I'm not poking fun at you, I want to know this. Can one of you guys explain, why/how an angle change with the pinion can do that.

+1, I am curious to know why that happens because that doesn't make any sense at all. I lowered my car 2" and mine doesn't do that...

Thanks Bullitt...
(I'm sorry to jack your thread man, but...)
Now that i think of it when I get on the gas in first, I sometimes get bad wheel hop. It was happening really bad all the time so I replaced my quad shocks and it helped A LOT! But I still get a little hop every once and awhile... Do you think this is because my pinion angle is wrong now that my car is so low? I thought I just needed to replace my lower control arms, but I guess maybe I need to replace my uppers as well??

You'll start poping u joints if you don't correct the angle.

Maybe you have a bad shock and its not allowing the the rear to lower when you apply the gas. I would go around the whole car and shake each corner.

Sorry but thats INCORRECT. You want the car to rise off the back tires when it launches.

If you haven't already replaced the lower control arms, doing so will all but eliminate wheel hop. I have the Maximum Motorsports lowers and I removed the quad shocks; no wheel hop, and mine's lowered 1".
Slo_5.0, what you're experiencing with the car lifting up is called "anti squat". If you Google search that, you'll find several articles on what causes it and how to cure it.

That doesn't sound right. You'd want the rear end to squat down slightly when you launch so that the weight is directed downwards onto the wheels to maximize traction.

Thanks man, I guess I need to look into that sooner than I anticipated.

+1, that's exactly what I thought...

thanks guys for all the input. ill definataly look it up bullet. just looking at my pinion angle it doesnt seem bad but i dont think its quite right either. im starting to think part of the problem might be that i didnt get the shorter pinion snubber, so when i get on my car and the axle wraps its hitting it and thus pushing the rear of the car up. im hoping to work on it some time this week and will keep ya posted.

+1 also on thinking the car should squat some in the rear when launching so weight is transfered over the rear axle.

No squat there.

Squatting the springs is just energy that could have been sent to the tires.

OK... that's not really a fair comparison. What you're saying is true... the rear springs shouldn't "squat" down drastically. But neither should they lift UP the rear end. That doesn't make any sense. That probably would mean something is wrong, because no matter what when you are accelerating weight is shifted to the rear wheels, and adding weight to the rear of the car should cause it to "squat" somewhat. Just thinking with common sense man.
