Gt40 Heads what years?


Im sorry if this is a repost i searched the forum and found one answer and did some other research and found another. Did the gt40 heads come on any explorers that were made in 1995. Im wondering about this year specificaly because i have a friend that totalled her explorer and i can get the parts for free. any input is appriciated thanks

i just did a pretty thorough google search and couldn't find an answer. i know they only started using the GT40P heads in 97. I'm pretty sure that when they started putting v8's in them in 95 that they used the iron GT40's, but I'm not certain. The best way for you to find out for sure would be to just go in there and pull a valve cover off and check the casting number on the head. It will say "GT40" on it somewhere. oh dont be sorry. ya searched google and couldnt find much either. i read on here someone put they started in 96 but im pretty sure some of the 95 have 5.0 and from what i know any of the explorers with a 5.0 have gt40 or gt40p's. Im gonna have to just find out from taking the valve cover off
