That engine won't make anywhere near the 400hp the guy is advertising nor is it worth $5500......or even half that.

Yeah I wasn't planning on buying it lol. Do you think it would be smarter to just buy a 351w block and build it from the ground up?

i got my 351w from a kid who bought in rebuilt from jasper. the engine only has 30k on it. it was in a f150. truck was badly rusted, he took out the engine and got rid of the truck. i got the whole engine , with fuel injection, and whole carb. set up for 300. not a bad deal.

It depends on what your goals are.

How much money do you have to spend on this project and what are your goals?

I am going to buy each part one at a time, starting with the best 351w block you can get. My goals are simply for as much as I can get with a fully assembled 351, and the best engine parts to go with it. Il spend as much money as needed. I have a summer job at the moment and plan on just getting the block by the end of the summer. Basically this is something that will take me years to finish, and I'm starting it now and want to know where I can find the best 351w to start with.

You need a plan. As of right now your plan is not very clear. If you don't plan on making more than 700hp then there is no reason for "the best" 351 block which will be a Dart or World block. Also there are other things to address such as torque converter, transmission, driveshaft, rear end, chassis, etc. The more power you make, the more durable everything else must be. How fast are you looking to go with the car? The chassis work and rear axle should be done before the engine. The chassis is much more important than the horsepower the engine makes.
