it worst than i thought!!!
ok i decided to start a new tread continuing from the starter problem. well i tried to turn the motor over by the crank pulley and it didn't budge i thought it might have been seized so i checked the oil and it was full of coolant and oil
so i took the pugs out and they were drenched in coolant!! so i took the intake off and it was full of coolant too(at this point i was like wtf is going on) so i went on and took the heads off and thats when i saw that piston #8 was completely gone all that was left was the rod ![]() ![]() , how the hell this happens if i was driving normal!

the motor had like 130 on it and im not sure if its been rebulit or not. yeah i looked again and the cylinder wall is callapsed so that motor is a paper weight now
. im thinking of the 347 but i would need new top end and im super broke right now(college student ). ive been looking on craigslist to see if i can find any rebuilt short blocks that are ready to put in but they they are a bit pricey.

Sounds good. Go take a look at it.
You could also look for a 460 cheap too.

What lead up to this? A piston doesn't come apart without making some noise. That rod pounding around in the cylinder had to make alot of noise too. So have you had different heads or intake put on this thing recently? I'm curious as to how all of that coolant got in the cylinders. I wouldn't reuse any of those parts until you determine the cause of the problem.

well it happened so fast that i really didn't pay attention to listen, i was more interested in getting the car out of the way of traffic (country road), im pretty sure the coolant got there by leaking through the cylinder wall(ether the piston or rod busted it and thats how it leaked.) i haven't messed with the engine except for CAI, but every i tighten all the clamps down good. yeah im taking all the top end to a machine shop to have them inspected for any signs of damage. sorry i meant cam not ca in my last post |
