Gt40 p head price
I found some assembled new with a warranty for 600 including shipping. Is that a good price?

He's talking about GT40P's so they're iron. Shipping alone can cost close to $100 so the price is not bad but you can find them cheaper in ebay. You might also consider that a pair of TriState Flotek 5.0X aluminium heads (GT40X clones) cost less than $800 but will give you better performance and a 40lb weight saving.

That's not a bad price for brand new heads with a warranty. I've never heard of those heads that Bullitt just mentioned, but that sounds like a good option in your case, so I would look into those...

![]() Tri-State Cylinder Head - Chevy, Ford, Small Block, Performance, Aluminum Cylinder Heads I'm even tempted to get them myself. The only reason I'm hesitating is the $500 shipping cost to the UAE. |

$600 for iron factory heads is not a good deal. Even with a warranty. You are still going to have to spend money on springs and labor to install them for valve springs that are appropriate for the camshaft you are using. I'd look for a set of used aftermarket heads. If you are stuck on GT40P heads, there is a guy on Ebay that sells remanufactured Ps for $350. The link has been posted on this site a few times.
As far as those junk knock off heads go, I would run an iron GT40 head before I'd run those. The Floo-tek junk, just like Pro Comp are chinese crap. The quality control in chinese foundries is not controlled at all. Machining quality is horrible. Anyone that has ever picked up a set of chinese heads, intake, etc knows of the lack of quality in these products. To each their own. If you want to save a buck and buy junk, so be it. I guess the question is, if you buy poor performing junk and save some money.....are you really saving money?

yea i couldn't see paying 600 for some P heads...new or not. You can find used sets cleaned up for 400 or so, I've got a buddy right now selling a set of ported and polished GT40's with 5 angle valve job, brand new springs that can handle up to a .550 lift cam. and brand new scorpion 1.6 RR's. He's asking 500 OBO

I know of at least two guys who are running those heads and they're very happy with them. Apart from some minor casting flash, the feedback has been very favorable. One of those guys reported a 0.4sec and 4mph gain to the 1/4 mile after bolting on those heads so I'd say they're worth looking into further.

4 tenths and 4mph is not impressive for a set of heads. P heads will give you more than that.

You need 12% more HP to gain 4mph so we're talking 30-35rwhp depending on the existing set-up. GT40P heads WILL give you ~35rwhp over stock E7's but I suspect the Flootek 5.0X's will do even better than that. Their flow numbers are slightly higher than the GT40X's and they also have 58cc chambers which will raise the CR for even more power.

Here is a video of a busted ass 88 LX 5 liter 5 speed car. The only modifications are P heads, Explorer intake, Flowmaster cat back and 3.55 gears. 13.9 with stock engine, 12.8s after the P heads and Explorer intake. Over a full second with a head and intake swap. Not bad for $500.
