Feel your pain, I have the same problem. The stock T5 from what I have heard is a weak transmission to begin with. Mines been popping out of gear since I've had the car. A quick fix for me has been holding it in 1st gear when I take off, which has actually worked out pretty well lol. I wasn't planning on doing anything about it until a friend looked under my car and told me my transmission was about to self destruct. Some options you may consider are getting your transmission rebuilt, or buy a stronger one. I'm getting a TKO 600 at the end of the summer once I get the cash. I just feel spending close to a 1000 on rebuilding a stock transmission which is already junk to begin with is a bad idea. So I suggest on replacing it if you are considering fixing the problem for good. Look at TKO 500's or 600's. They're one of the best transmissions from what I've read.

rebuilding is not a bad option. don't rule that out completely. being all new parts, the rebuilt t5 will hold up much better than your original. and it will probably hold more hp/tq than stock. that's what i'm doing with mine anyways - rebuilding until i have the free flowing cash to drop $3000 into a trans. lol.

+1 on the syncro's

it all depends on what you are trying to acomplish with the car. how much HP you expect to get...you can have the t5 rebuilt with stronger components for around 1200 that will safely handle about 400-450 and still keep its daily driver quietness and smoothness etc. or just get it rebuilt with stock compnents for cheap. i picked up a rebuilt t5 for 600 and im pushing 400 to it with no problems at all. some fail at 350 some dont fail at 600...depends on the driver.

You can check your syncros by being at a dead stop and in nuetral and pull down on the shifter to second and the car should start to gently creep forward. do the same with third gear. Just make sure you are on a flat surface and remember you are not trying to put it in gear just pull or push firmly until you feel it starting to creep
