Moates Quarterhorse

Wondering if anyone's tried the Moates Quarterhorse chip for tuning their car. Been looking at it and the Tweecer and trying to figure out which one will be better or which one's easier/quicker. Any advice welcome. Thanks!!

the shop I work at has been looking into these for awhile and my car gets to be the guinea pig, and I don't have much done now but I've got a set of heads and a blower sitting in my garage waiting for me to put in so its gonna need something past stock in the computer. Thanks though!

Who is the shop you are using , are they experienced with tuning the Ford EEC ? , if they want some good info on QH specifically , tell them to call Wes over at TPS Total Performance Solutions -- Dyno Tuning and Performance Shop between Baton Rouge and New Orleans, Louisiana , hes been using one longer than anybody and has a good working relationship with Craig at Moates.net , as long as the shop has knowledge about tuning the Ford EEC then you should not have any issues with the QH , but you will need to purchase the 80 dollar software license for Binary Editor from Clint Garrity to use all its features

Boost Performance up in Amarillo, they've been tuning all the OBDII systems for as long as I can remember but we've gotten so many fox's in and older cars like mine in asking for tunes that he's decided to start looking into it. Thanks for the help, i'll prolly be burning that guys phone up now

Main thing is the datalogging features , not much available for OBD1 cars , the Tweecer is good , but pricey , the QH is a little cheaper and is able to update the tunes without even turning the engine off helps to speed the whole process up , I am going to get one for myself to use to speed up things with the OBD1 cars , but just bought in with SCT so I am trying to recoup those funds now .....nice mustang by the way

Yeah, the tweecer almost has the same screenshots as the hptuner or xfi software we use but the whole turning off the car thing doesn't sound too bueno. Let me know how it goes. And thanks, I like it

Either one is not easy. The QH is not very user friendly, but there is info on the net on the the hex address you use. Wes is the man for sure. Remember that its easy to mess up with the QH, but its cool. I have one on my shelf i've been waiting to play with.

Dont have to worry about hex address with Binary Editor , software is just as easy to use as anything out there as long as you know what you are doing in the first place

I have a TweecerRT with windows vista and it is very very complex. im having trouble getting the datalogging to work. im thinking about moates quarterhorse cause i hear that i can use the tweecer and just download the software for moates, im sure if that is true or not. also looking at eec analyzer and binary editor.

In my opinion both systems take time to learn. If your a previous Tweecer user you will have no problems with the QH (same stuff, really).

For me...with a lot LESS time to tune and fiddle every time I swap something out of my car may be going PMS just for sanity sake and just not think about it or spend the amount of time I have been spending over the last couple of years

I tried it and the PMS was a bigger headache to me / IMO stick with the QH
