MSD 8455 with steel gear
Hello!
Can someone help me? I buy MSD Pro-Billet 8455 distributor from summit for my 5.0 95 Cobra. There was notice on the gear: "This distributor is equipped with a steel gear. It should be used only with a billet steel camshaft (roller tappet). All cast iron camshafts (flat tappet) must use a cast iron gear. Bronze gears may be used with either a cast iron or billet steel camshaft." As i know my camshaft cast iron made (flat tappet). I need to buy bronze or iron gear to use this distributor on my Cobra? Why everywhere wrote that "For installation, you simply remove the stock distributor and bolt the Pro-Billet MSD in place!" Anв another question. Why bronze gear "Not intended for extended street use"? Thank You very much! PS Sorry for my english, I'm from Russia. |

MSD Ignition 8455 - MSD Pro-Billet Ready-To-Run EFI Distributors - Application - SummitRacing.com Bronze distributor gears are softer and have a shorter lifespan so they're intended more for racing applications where the engines are frequently rebuilt.
