Leaking oil cause of problem?
I was under my 94 cobra yesterday and noticed that oil is leaking from inbetween the bellhousing and engine block. Is this serious? Why is it leaking and how do I fix it? Thank you!!

rear main seal. the seal is cheap but you have to drop the tranny. I put in a new one a few months ago and it still leaks. not really that serious

Thats what I was thinking... I am going to have an aluminum flywheel, driveshaft and x-pipe installed. I guess Ill have them replace that seal at the time. How much do think labor would be to install all of that?

my rear main has been leaking since i bought my car 4 years ago (and probably before that too)... i've been too lazy to just fix it or have it done... i've been telling myself i'm going to rebuild the engine so i might as well wait.......
but for you, since you are already having a new flywheel ect. done it would be simple for them to change it right then & there.. i can't really tell you how much labor will be, all shops are different...

Your rear main seal leaking will end up messing up your clutch if you don't replace it soon, that's if it's not slipping already from all the oil contaminating the clutch. Labor cost here in dallas,tx is around 300 for clutch job and add another 60 to 100 bucks for flywheel, rear seal and driveshaft since it has to come off anyway.
