Certified transmission is charging me $1,800 for a remanufactured transmission using my same torque converter sensors and valve body. So i'm pretty sure you can get more from another shop. my bro paid 2500 at amco

I cant believe I am having this much trouble with getting this transmission rebuilt..

Adam was off yesterday and Today up at AAMCO. I had to go up there to talk to the manager about what I was going to do, since this is coming out of my pocket for now.. he telling me he can no longer let people bring in their own parts..
i asked him to let me see my transmission and the car.. he said the car was locked up out back and they sent the transmission to another location to be rebuilt. i knew this was a bad idea taking it there when they said it slipped in every gear and had no o/d. But when i dropped it off it was only slipping in first... Freaking crooks

So then I have to either pay them $400 for my car and transmission or pay the $2000 for the rebuild.. I am just not gonna pay that for a stock trans when i could get a 6 speed manual for that..

I am going to have to take Autocheck to court. Since this is getting out of hand. Why cant people just be honest and hold up to their responsibility??

For now i still have to get my car fixxed..

I have 4 options:
Pay the $400 to AAMCO to get my car back and
buy this 6 speed setup for $1000.. Wait till mid march and do it at a family members garage?
OR
Buy a used trans for $400 until i can afford a TCI Or really good performance build?
Or Take it to another shop for a performance rebuild..

OR

get a book and rebuild it myself..I have all the tools.I have built 1 c4, a couple th350,a 2 speed powerglide and 4 700r4 trans.. How much worse can this be? Anyone ever done it?

Wow
Which Certified did you go to?
I have had work done there in the past and I was very happy.
I am thinking of having another Ripper made now for a project car

Certified ?

Rcracer your post really concerned me so I called Rick at the Certified in Millard. They are the ones I worked with in the past. His comment
"something is wrong here". "We completely remanufacture every transmission" He assured me of this, and even offered to take me to the remanufactoring facility to see the process (which hopefully I am going to do next week). Rick told me to tell you to call the owner.
I was going to send a private message but since I am new I can't send a private message.
he was very quick to say for you to call the owner Peter Fink @ 402.558.2117and explain your situation. That kind of impressed me that he said that so quick.

i had done the same thing in my situation. I contacted the franchise owner of AAMCO and he came out and talked to me . i explained my situation with autocheck and that i would be paying for this out of my pocket for now.. So he said let him look at the car and see what he can do.. He called me the next day (yesterday)and cut my bill down to $1,800 which includes a remaned 4r70W and new torque converter.. Thats Tax and all out the door..Car is done as of today. Yay

Finally caught a break.. So i called autocheck yesterday and told them the total was only $1800 and asked if they were gonna pay it.. he said no and the franchise owner would be in touch.. He called today and was very rude. he said they wouldnt be covering any of the repair bill if its over $1500. i tried to reason with the guy that $1800 was better then $2500.. I told him i would take him to court for the bill, attorneys fees, lost work time, and all the trouble they have caused....

he said that i have no proof that they damaged my transmission and that i was scamming them.. So i let the cat out of the bag. i had hit record on my crackberry voicenote when I went in and they told me about what they had done that day to my trans.. The guy said BS, i was bluffing.. Well i recorded this phone call today also. So i see no problems getting my money from them in court... RIGHT?

Bright side is I have a 12,000 mile 12 month warranty and the trans shop got 2 check engine codes. Bot were fuel related. One says something about the fuel pump and the other says something about the fuel rail? i dunno. Anyone wanna chime in? i will get all the info when i have the cash to pick it up..

good for you

Good for you Cantbuytime
I am glad it worked out for you.
The company I am working with is not a franchise, it is all owned buy one guy.
That is why I think I am going to still go with them. There is a number of people I know and most of the shops I called around Omaha that use them, and I have not really heard anything bad except for RC's comments. I talked to a performance Dyno/Tuner Guy here and he said Certified is the only way to go. He said that the Corvette and Camero clubs all have toured the place and are really impressed with them. Like I said I was treated very well in the past.

here is what I am doing for my project
I will post how it worked by summer, I should have it running by then

I never said anything bad about them, that's what I was quoted and told.

Certified transmission in Millard(132nd and Q) That is the Certified transmission I got the quote (from Joel) and were they checked out my car.

I just got a Refund Check from Fed. and was Going to get The road ripper 1000 but was thinking about getting the 2000.

I was quoted $1700+ for a remanufactured transmission and one Transmission line. I asked about a possible performance upgrade and they said they recommend road ripper 1000 and said it was $2000+ not including tax and that they send my valve body to get rebuilt to road ripper 1000 specs and that they try to reuse as many sensors as possible.

I was also told they want me to try to pay half up front cause its a road ripper even though i have a $3000 Credit limit with them and Transmission Inc. through Wells Fargo.

I have a 1994 Ford Mustang GT AODE.

Would you know the Price for a Road Ripper 2000?

They said they were going to take from a week to two weeks to finish my car when ever i drop it of. Hoping this monday or tuesday.

Let me know what you think.

Certified

I was referring to "Certified transmission is charging me $1,800 for a remanufactured transmission using my same torque converter sensors and valve body. So i'm pretty sure you can get more from another shop." If I were you, I would talk to Rick there, (that is who I am dealing with) I have talked to Rick and Chris there and they were very informative. I think Rick is the manager

besides all Ricks are cool

Cool

ok i just read this and i am very impressed that you thought to record the conversations but i have one question. please tell us you recorded the conversation where the guy they said they would pay the whole bill because that will win your case no matter what they say because they admitted guilt and offered to pay the full bill they cant back out now so take them to court for the cost of repair, court fees, and loss of income.

+1. The first thing you should have done when they said they would pay for the bill was take a piece of paper out and get it in writting.

what kinda price would i be looking at??

Anyone know a good place around here that wont rape you??

Man i need a place to do this myself.. might just rent a space for a month.
if your gonna sue someone you have to have already paid for it, you're filing suit to recoup your losses. I know this bc a garage shut down while they had my car and my friends 97 cobra there, he was getting a new timing chain put on and the timing set, well they didn't set it right and less than week later it broke again and fucked up all the valves in the motor for a 2nd time, he tried to sue them and was told he couldn't until he had paid for the repairs himself. With that said i've been in a similar situation, had my car at a shop, getting transmission fixed, bearings in the input shaft came out bc my friend was playing with it while we were swapping them, well long story short, the garage was shut down and closed while my car was still being worked on due to the mechanic over charging customers and pocketing the extra that he didn't report to the garage, well i found my car outside one day thought it was done stopped and asked they told me they had shut the place down and i needed to take my car elsewhere, so i take it to another shop have it finished up, less than a month later i'll show ya the video of what it was doing in a second, which by the way due to them taking over a month with my car i ended up losing my job for attendance problems bc i had to depend on other people and ya know how that goes, now i've got a new job 5 months later mines in the shop now, and everything is trashed and its costing me about 1800 to have everything done. So i feel your pain man it sucks to get fucked over by a garage.

My bad guys,sorry>>

Good news

i got the car back Thursday from AAmco, cost me $1835.23 out the door on the trans work> and some extra parts for the valve body was another $150 on the side..tow bill$150
Includes-
Trick shift assembly kit
new HP band
New HP drum
fluid was $93.
New converter-stalls 300rpm higher then stock
The guy did the valve body mods at home.
It will kick sideways hittin 2nd and bark em goin into 3rd
12K or 12month warranty
free trans fluid & filter and obd check for 12 months.

the builder says the trans will hold about 800 hp max as long as I dont dogg it all the time..

Weird thing is, they said to leave the kickdown unhooked..

THE BAD

I had only $700 cash so I had to get a loan for $1500 the interest is 57%.

I gave the attorney $150 bucks. he will do the paperwork and I wont even have to go to court myself. he says i will get all my money..

But autocheck did try to call me today.. but the situation has cost me $3000 and i want it all back!!

i feel a 347 dart block build coming on!!

here she is with new BFGoodrich TA something tires

you should pay off the loan with that money, not get a built motor.

56% interest...... is that even legal?!

i am paying off the loan within the next few months out of my pocket..

It could be 2 months to a year before I get my money back and by then I will have the loan paid off, so that money can go to an engine build when I get it back.

57% , i didnt know there was a legal interest rate on loans?

I called autocheck today and they had the shop manager call me from home.. He said they would give me what the total repair bill is, but they wont pay the attorney fees or the loan interest. the guy said thats my responsability.

I said oh kinda like it was your responsability to fix my trans after you screwed it up..

Then told the guy that either they pay for everything I have receipts for or I take them to court . At least in court I will get it all back..

He said well thats our final offer with a real shitty attitude. i said see you in court..

I hung up. i have had enough of their BS..

So thats 4 phone conversations recorded..

So far All my rebuild receipts, attorneys fees, loan intrest= $3004.88

plus $150 of misc parts on the side. but those i dont have receipts for..

i probably would have taken that personally. what did u have after the total bill? 300?. ull pay that and possibly more in that interest rate of urs. just make sure that extra money is worth waiting 2 months to a year for?.
atleast get the loan paid for first.
just save the old fashion way for the parts u want
