Question

95 engine gasket replacement help

I've got a 95mustangGT 8 cylinder 5.0 engine .

the left engine gasket needs replacement .

I cant afford taking it to the mechanics ( they charge a lot down here )
i want to do it my self ( I have never worked on a car before )

want to know if i can get any help form you guys . or is there a video on a step to step tutorial to do it .

( how i know the gasket is blown is because water in the radiator finishes in matter of minutes and the engine oil is all mixed up with water . i checked the engine oil its all brown and thick now . plus when you put your hand on the left side cylenser you can feel it shooting water out there for the left side gasket is blown from my knowledge of cars )

again step to step on what needs to be done ...

and another thing
my car heats a lot from underneath and when i turn off the car makes a lot of ticking sounds from the head . though the hear gages are not showing over heating . even if the cars running i open the door and can feel the heat coming from underneath what is that about ???

its hard to describe what has to be done as the engine has to be striped to the block everything must come off you will have to discharge the ac and pull the radiator then pull the p/s pulley to access the bracket bolts both accessory brackets must be remove the intake has to come off and of course the exhaust manifolds will need to be removed just make sure you torque the heads in the right order and to the right specs oh and make sure to clean ll gasket surfaces very good to avoid leaks

and the heat from underneath the car check your cats they may be clogged up partially

It is VERY defficult.I mean, you have to TQ the heads perfect and they have to be TQ down, then back them out then a final TQ.The only thing you need to get rite is the heads and the rockers. After that, everything else is a breeze...

i truely believe that if you are mechanically inclined at all and can read you can do this. my sister rebuilt her engine in her jeep with basic tools, a tq wrench, and both books. anything she didn't understand she asked the guys at o'reilly's. personally i'd skip the autoparts guys and just ask us.

you can borrow any tools like torque wrenches from most auto parts places. just buy a decent basic set of tools
