Need to replace a bunch of things
So, I finally got new tires put on and took it down to the alignment shop. While it was there they said I need to replace the Differential Seal and bearing, I needed to do a complete front brake overhaul (calipers, rotors, pads, etc.,) I need to replace all the shocks and struts and replace my rear break pads.
So, the dude who owned the car before me obviously didn't know anything about preventative maintenance , but that's beside the point. Now it's up to me to fix it (sort of bittersweet. Yay, I get to play mechanic, boo I have to pay for it.)Anyways, if I were to buy the Duralast crap from autozone, it would cost me around $378 for calipers, rotors, pads and new wheel bearings, plus whatever miscellaneous hardware cost. I haven't priced the other stuff, but what I'm wondering, do any of you have any suggestions for upgrades? I mean, it needs to be replaced, so why not replace it with better quality items? It's a 94 GT Convert. It will end up being a daily driver, with some weekend warrior stuff thrown in. I'm not looking to make this car a 9 sec car (I say this now) just something fun and enjoyable to drive. Right now, the engine is stock and the exhaust is a "custom" made 2.5" pipe, H-pipe, straight threw. Let me know any ideas. I'm open to all suggestions.

The basic stuff is fine from Autozone. If you need brakes then I would simply throw in hawk pads(street) onto the stock type rotors. Another simple upgrade is to use SS brake lines) which helps immensely modulating the brakes (if your into road courses).
If your keeping the suspension in stock type form any quality shock will be good for a DD. Tockico..bilsteins..whatever is in your budget.

how could they know you need new rotors and calipers in the front without taking the wheels off and mearing the rotor and messing with the caliper? i think they are trying to get you to spend some more money at their shop.
i would just do the pad and take your rotor and have them turned and be done with it. now if your seal is leaking id go ahead and change it out if its just the rear diff gasket or the front pinion seal they arent too bad to do |

Doesn't sound like anything you can't do yourself.
Just back slowly out of the Autozone, and get decent parts.
