work log: 94 mustang gt

i figured id make a work log for my car to show everyone what ive done to it. none of it is all that amazing but just a good learning project for me and maybe someone will learn something off it too.

Started out, i was looking for a 5.0 fox originally, a notch. but couldnt find too many in my area in good shape that were stock. i wanted to get a car i could learn body work on because i just started school at the time, 6/09. and then something i could learn mechanical work on because i knew no mechanics whats so ever. changed my oil once before that was it. But found a 94 that was side swiped. looked at it. 1 owner, an older woman i was told. perfect black cloth interior, 116000 miles, clean engine. i bought it for $1200. o and its an auto but maybe ill get around to changing that.

well it needed a left side quarter, rocker, door, fender, and the axle was bent. so i gutted the car and began to learn i guess. while i was at it i did every little thing to the car because i was just repainting the whole thing. i also replaced everything with ford oem parts.... out of the junk yards.

Then it came to the paint. the 94 mustangs were a tri-coat red paint color. something a bit harder or atleast more work for my first time ever painting anything. it was a nice color but i also wanted something with a bit more shine. so i decided to just go through test cards one day and pick one. i found a nice deeper red, closer to candy red, but with more pearl in it so it lightened it too. i mixed three different varients of the color to finally get the one i liked. Its toyota's impulse red. its a 2 stage paint. that has gold and red pearl in it. in sunshine, early mornings the best, it flashes out pretty nicely and gives it kind of a firery red. If anyone really likes it pm me and i can give you the paint code.

sealer

i didnt take any of base coat but i have some of clear and after

after everything was reassembled.

I redid the body of the mustang the way i liked and what i thought of the 94 mustang. i wanted to keep the mustang look. but add a little bit to it and make it more for show. i have a va6 bumper so it just says mustang, pony tags on the fenders, 2000 cobra r hood, cobra spoiler, i left the stock tail lights even though so many people hate them. i wanted to keep a lot of the 94 look.

the car is completely stock i just did body mods. i have a pretty good looking body and paint and a perfect interior that matched pretty well with the color i think. it is all original inside. even the cassette player to the mach 460 stereo system installed right under it. ill get pics of the interior soon. for wheels i have some 17x8 bullets. off my old v6 mustang. i dont plan on keeping them but they work fine for now. the car is looking good so now i think ill start on all the after market mods. ill get some more pics asap. i need to use an actual camera and get some outside when the color flashes so i can show everyone why i like this one so much. im usually not a red fan on mustangs.

Nice job on the paint, especially for your first time. I'm pretty much a the stage of your first couple of pics; basically thinking, how do I get this non-damaged quarter panel onto my car?
