Leaking Fuel!
So, the mustang sprung a leak today. Right where the fuel filler neck gets inserted into the gas tank, fuel is leaking. Does anyone know what I need to do to fix this, i.e. what seals the filler neck to the tank so it doesn't leak?

Thats a common problem. Here's what you need from 5.0 Resto.

Thanks. Hopefully it won't be too much of a PITA to change it out.

Was just thinking, aside from R&R the grommet, is there anything else that needs to be done with this? Sealant, clamps, etc.? I know there's that metal O-clamp doo-hickey (technical term, it's in Haynes, I swear,) that needs to be removed, but I just want to make sure that I don't overlook anything.

I just replaced this on my brothers 94 did everthing but take the rear tire off. Me and him had very little problem I did how ever lossen the tank straps while he puled the pipe and put it back in we just pulled up on a set of ramps had in done in less than an hour. So while I had my vert up on the lift with the engine out I went ahead and did mine as well. PMCS is always a good thing lol

So, I found out why my fuel tank was leaking. It seems that the previous owner (read: idiot) decided not to replace the grommet at all and instead, just sealed it with some plumber-esque type compound. Well, the new grommet is in and appears to be sealing the tank. Really wasn't too bad of a job, especially with my 1 year old helper. Oh wait, he was the cause of most of my frustration.
