Car shuts off while driving, or wont start at all

My mustang will start and when im driving it down the road it will just turn on off by itself. Sometimes it will start after that, other times it won't start at all. And I have to wait 10-20 minutes for it to start, or even longer sometimes. Other times the car won't start at all, and I'll have to try it a few times and then eventually it'll start. Sometimes I have to wait a couple hours. Anybody know what the problem could be?

Sounds like your dizzy or actually the pip sensor inside the dizzy or also called the stator, u can change the sensor itself but requires taking the gear off dizzy.

Definitely sounds like it's the PIP sensor on the fritz but if you still have the original factory '95 dizzy, I strongly recommend you just replace the whole thing. Trust me.

I just called ford and the only distributor that they have is a 419 dollar one! Where else could I get one?

go to a picknpull or craigslist you can find a distributor pretty easily

Pip sensor from Napa probably $50 or so, heres how to do it. Or maybe less for a Jy dizzy.

Try Summit Racing. I have their own billet aluminium dizzy and it's a very nice piece. It's also a lot cheaper than MSD's and probably at least as reliable.

Happened to me about 7 months ago. I bought a new/re-manufactured dizzy from the auto parts store and put it in the car. Car ran fine for a week and then it left me stranded. Just turned off while I was on the highway at 70MPH. Wouldn't turn back on. Long story short, the rebuilt units get rebuilt using the cheap stuff. A buddy of mine told me this who works for Ford. I ended up getting new, not rebuilt, internals from Motorcraft and the car's been running strong ever since.
