temp gauge malfunction
Hey guys, my temp gauge started acting up, working sometimes, not working others, jumping all over, etc, I located the temp sending unit behind the ingnition, and I bought the new part, but when I went to put it on, I noticed the red wire going into the boot that attaches to the sensor is disconnected, and I have no idea how to reconnect it to the boot.... I'm assuming this is why my gauge isn't working, any ideas??

actually I realized I don't think it's supposed to be wired the way it is, it looks like someone spliced the red wire into a black wire which attaches to the sensor, but it was only held on by a rubber boot, does anyone know the correct way the wire is supposed to attach? I was just gonna screw a bolt down on top of the sensor.

I think so, but the wire came out of the boot, so I think I'm just gonna find a small bolt to put right on the top of the sensor, but now I'm having trouble getting the sensor out, I stripped it, so now I have to try a bolt gripper to get it out, I hope it works, lol
