The clutch talks

So the owner before me liked to rest his foot on the clutch..

Well, now I'm stuck with listening to that annoying squeal when I remove pressure from the clutch pedal. This has to be taken care of!

I was told it could be the throwout bearing. Yes? No?

Is there anything I can do to fix this, other than replacing the whole clutch?

The clutch works fine but I get a little tired of holding that pedal down to kill the noise.

Throw out bearing... Same thing happened to mine... MY clutch was perfectly fine but the throwout bearing was down the shitter... My stang was at 120,000 miles so I decided to just put in a new clutch but yes it's your throwout bearing... just buy one and replace it.

Yes. You should only need to replace the T.O. bearing but you'd be well advised to inspect the clutch plate 'cause it's quite likely to be worn with the previous owner riding the pedal.

I'm not a transmission guy; yet..

Can this be easily done at home (within a few hours to whole day period?) or will I need to take it somewhere?

pretty simple. drop transmission and pull off old parts replace with new. re-install trans. can be done with basic hand tools and jack stands

Haven't called my shop but I have an estimate for around $100 to replace the clutch + labor.

Good price?

Wow I wish that was the price now..

I went up there and talked to him; price of part+labor is $400-600
Labor alone will run me about $200.

I can get a good discount at Oreillys or what are good brands?
