repinning to the old slow fox style ECM is stupid.. you can do just fine with the stock ECM with a tune.

You dont need to get a tune every time you change a mod... whoever told you that is retarded.

also, ofcourse people think the old computer is better... Just because a carb can run just about anything, doesnt mean its the better option... same thing with the fox ECM's... why step back when you can get more out of the newer style systems

you are correct. the SCT handheld tuners will not work with the SN-95 5.0 cars, as they are not OBD2.

the only self tuning options are the Moates Quarterhorse, Tweecer R/T, Anderson PMS (crap), AEM EMS, and the stand alone systems like Megasquirt, BigStuff3, SDS, FAST etc.

I swapped my heads, cam, intake AND TB and still drove on the old tune before changing it.

If you arent changing the MAF, injectors, or size of the engine... the tune isnt going to change much.

why anyone would waste money on an SCT chip is beyond me. DO you even have a clue what kind of values are on that chip? I know I sure didnt when someone burned a chip for me.

Now that I am running a moates quarterhorse (imagine that, a programmer for our cars!) I know every value that is in my computer. And I can change every single one of them.

well when you have the car dynotuned and arent using a programmer or standalone, the only way for the ecm to run that tune would be via chip. Do I know the values programmed, no I dont but I do trust the guy who tuned it. I think Don at lasotta racing is one of the top tuners in the country as far as the 94-95 t4mo goes. I couldnt be happier with the work he did for me. Remember using a self tuner or standalone takes time to learn and some people just arent cut out for it.

To the OP no need to tune after every mod. do your HCI upgrade injectors and have it tuned by a reputable tuner. If your not familiar with how the ecm works or how to manipulate its functions you are asking fora ton of leg work before you can begin to tune your own car.

+1 LOVE the second part of that, as well as the first, but second more. It reminds me of a conversation my dad and i had when i first picked up my 95 5.0L.

As has been mentioned, we cant just handheld tune the 94-95 because OBDII is not on them, and chips are... about as useful for a car as the crunchy ones Frito-Lay makes. I am choosing between a Tweecer R/T and the Quarterhorse. I like the quaterhorse, It seems more of a "all in one deal", for what I want to do

What I want to do is be able to tune my own car, know the values, and datalog so i can fine tune and just know what the car is doing. so, which of these systems would be better for that, or are they equal? I'm looking for peoples opinions based on what the have in their own ride.

yeah. just did a lil more research about using it and everything... looks like the QH is easier to use regardless, so thats what im leaning towards...

Now, I just gotta save up for it on a a college budget. Beer, or zoom... that is the question.

P.S., love the rims on your SN95, Adder. what are they?
