Idle Issues


Just bought a 94 gt. when i first start it up you have to kindof give it gas to stay running. when your driving down the road and you let off the gas it decelerates but then has a "hickup" and trys accelerate for a split second on its own. then at a traffic light it keeps trying to cut out on me?
Its been doing this since i purchased the car. Since the day ive purchased installed 24# injectors, C&L mass air, new gaskets on throttle body and upper intake, and spark plugs. ive checked the wires and they seem fine cars got a msd distributor thats brand new i think the timing is set to high i was planning on checking that this week. a mechanic told me it could be something with the egr? but the cars got the smog pump deleted but the egr is still hooked up to the headers? Im lost on what to attempt next please help

Have you bothered running KOEO and KOER tests yet?

Take the C&L off, put your stock maf and injectors back in the car.

start looking for vac leaks, and reset your timing back no higher than 12°

no I havent done any tests yet, i just ordered new o rings for my old factory injectors upper to lower intake, and throttle body gaskets. new msd wires and rotor cap. after i install all that this week ill put the timing back to 12 degrees, guy i bought it from said he set it to 14.5? but he also told me he put all new plugs in it but when i pulled them out yesterday every damn plug was different. i pulled out 3 ngk plugs all gapped different, a irrodium plug, a OEM autolight plug another like OEM bosh plug and the rest were platnium 4 bosh plugs? car runs a little better with all new plugs but still having the issue.

my friend has a 94 lt1 he data logs and its an OBD.1 would that chord work on a 94 GT? if so do you know any good software I can use to check the engine? when im doing all the gasket, stock injector and MAF swap should i try cleaning the i think its called the IAC? whatever that sensor is thats next to the TPS.?

no, the GM stuff wont work with your car. You would need an item like the Moates Quarterhorse.

Did it have idle issues b4 you put the C&L/24lbs?I would try the cheap stuff first,try cleaning your MAF and IAC and so on.There should be 2 vacum lines inback of the head and one of those goes to the rite side of the car and that goes to your hose and some other junk.I have no SMOG and I deleated my EGR stuff and I have no problems at all...

I did it the day i got it back from inspection but from what i remember it was a little choppy at idle but doesnt feel like it was this bad. Im taking the whole top end apart sunday and replacing all the gaskets new wires rotor cap ..etc ill let yall know what the outcome is, hopefully that fixes it. im getting the factory injectors cleaned tomarow at my friends shop and im putting them and the stock MAF sensor back on.

fixed it car idles great. right around 800-850 rpm's i think it was just the IAC, it was black inside before i cleaned it.
