got a ????? about hoods

I have a 1995 mustang gt with a very expensive paint job( I didnt put it on)

but i hate the stock hood but it will cost me $600 just to paint-to-match the body

so i was lookin around and ebay has carbon fiber hoods for $500-$800 give or take some change and i wont have to paint! big plus

but i have heard that the clear coat comes off carbon fiber hoods after a little while in the sun

so just wondering ya'll's opinions on this: Is it a good idea? if so whats a good way to protect that clear coat?

We carry a couple of carbon fiber hoods for the 94-98. Were you looking for an OE style or a vented style?

In regards to your concern about the clear, this is sometimes a problem but this is precisely why we offer a 1yr warranty against hazing/fading of the clearcoat. Our Carbon Creations line is the only carbon fiber line in the industry that carries this kind of warranty. Also, MM members get special pricing when purchasing directly through me

OE style

Spyder 3 (it shows a 99-04 but it works for the 94-98)

not painting carbon fiber = RICER!!!
just my opinion..
if u want it to look good then u shouldnt complain about the cost of painting cause when it comes down to it, thats what will really set the look of the car. it would probably look better painted to match, esp if its a new good paint job

I dont think that makes me at all like our cylinder challenged friends. I have actually seen quite alot of of new gen muscles with naked carbon fiber and i personally think it looks good. I especially have seen alot of cobra's with these hoods

carbon fiber will eventually yellow at the front and depending on where you live this can happen very quickly within two years if you check out the tuner forums they will say the same now the for the look you will feel like a poser I do and I got a 4 inch glasstek bolt on witch comes flat black and looks good personaly run a black hood and you lile it slot more plus when I asked the fiberglass guys about running it with no paint they said it was actually a good thing and help the fiberglass cure

Beamer, that's precisely why we offer an industry leading 1yr warranty against fading/hazing of the clearcoat. If it happens within that timeframe, you send us pictures and we replace it, simple as that.

It covers more than any other carbon fiber manufacturer. No one else even offers a warranty.

If a product has a defect in less than a year what can I expect in 2-3 years?
Sorry But warranty or not I would never buy a CF hood.

stick to the tried and true, fiberglass hoods FTW.. leave the carbon for the rice boys lolol.

The only reason I would get a CF hood was for weight savings for a full time drag or track car. If it was not substantially lighter I would not even bother. Even on a black car with a carbon fiber hood looks kind of ricey.

CF= rice burner unless you're on a trailer queen race car. thats just the way it is. i have a fiberglass cowl with hood scoops to assist in the air-flow/cooling department. It looks badass, was paintmatched, and installed for less than a GOOD cf hood. the only thing i ahve to do now is get some hood pins, i can watch the sucker flex at the edges when i get up to speed on the highway... not a good thing!!

seriosly though man... drop the dime and make it look right. its better to spend a little more know and have something you REALLY want that will look good more than a year down the road.

I saw a silver cobra with CF hood last night. It didn't look bad but not my cup of tea.

I've always liked the CF hood but nothing crazy. I never bought one cause their overpriced. I did not know they go to shit after a year. How much lighter if at all is a cf hood compared to a fiberglass one? It can't be much. For me, if your gonna buy a cf hood it's for that look alone. Not because you want to paint it to match because it weighs less then a fiberglass which I think it's only a few pounds difference.

Carbon Fiber is for Asian cars. But I even own a Civic Si and won't put carbon fiber on SUPER UGLY! Go fiber glass and paint it FTW!
