CAI, new gears, or steeda tri-ax?
so... i finally landed a job for the first time in three years, i have some money saved to do whatever i want with after everything else is paid, and im putting it into my mustang. Shes a daily driver and im just looking for a little more kick overall to start with.
I really like the steeda tri ax and the gears, but i plan on picking up a moates QH as the next major investment, so I was kind of wondering if the CAI would be worthwhile in that plan, or if i should stick with the gears. also, is it possible to custom fab a CAI? autozone sells the aluminum tubing and silicone boots to make one... good idea, or bad idea, and just pony up for a BBK or K&N set up? |

If you want to do a CAI, ge one off ebay. They cost about $35.
If you don't have any major modifications... i.e. Heads/cam/intake/boost/displacement... then you DONT need a Quarterhorse...yet As for the Tri-ax. Its the worst shifter I have ever owned. I shun anything steeda, since their product failed on me, putting me in the hospital, and they refused to pick up my tab. SO IMHO, Fuck steeda. I do however have a B&M ripper sitting in my garage that treated me great. I'll sell it to you for $65. Came off my T5 when I swapped to a TR-3550

Tri-Ax is gay, i would avoid it. CAI is so so, Gears are fantastic, I recommend those.

Definitely do gears (3.55 or 3.73) and if you want a short throw shifter, the MGW might be a better choice.

i was thinking of getting the QH early so i could get myself familiar with the software, because cams and boost and all the other details are hopefully to come.
I plan on doing most, if not all of the work myself, so the gears might get put off till spring, plus this will be my first winter with a rear wheel drive car so i dont know if i want to toy with the extra kick the gears will bring until im completely used to it. I've driven trucks, weighted bed and empty, but the 'stang is a wee bit lighter haha. what about the UPR blue thunder? i mean, i did some more research after hearing you guys have such issues with it, especially being put in the hospital (hope youre ok man!!!). But i have seen some of the UPR sticks around, and everyone seems to think rather highly of them. |

you dont need the QH to learn the software.
you need the software, to learn the software... Its sold seperately. and yes, the steeda handle broke off, cut my wrist.. also put my hand through my radio.. which required more stitches. besides.. How can you seriously turn down an almost brand new shifter for $65... buy my B&M, you'll love it.

ah. did not realize the software was separate.
as far as the shifter goes... id love to man, but im still waiting on a paycheck and an old system to sell, so i dont have the money to spare, because of tuition and other things. my car might be staying stock until spring gets here, unfortunately. |
