Three things you can do:

1. Clean the MAF sensor element with a Q-tip soaked in brake cleaner. Be very gentle.
2. Remove the idle air control (IAC) valve from the throttle body and clean it (also with brake cleaner).
3. Remove EGR valve and give that a good clean as well.

It's amazing how much effect the accumulation of 15 years' worth of crud can have on engine performance. Finally, run some seafoam through the brake booster vacuum line to clean out the engine's intake runners and combustion chambers. Don't be surprised if you see clouds of smoke come out of the exhaust. That's just the seafoam doing its job.

Mine was JUST doing the same thing. Throttle Position Sensor fixed me up right! Do you have a check engine light on? If so, see what the code is. If its 122. Then it's definitely a TPS.
