Fan Bypass
So I didn't like how my fan was acting funny, so I wired it with a manual switch from the battery to a 16" aftermarket fan.
Everything runs fine until I've been driving for a while. I have the fan kicked on and the temperature is about 1/4 from the cold to the hot (nice cool temperature). I'll be sitting at a light and notice my volts drop tremendously. I know the gauge and connections are good. I'm thinking it's the stock fan wires kicking on, drawing the power to the none connected wires. I can leave the fan running, stereo up high and use any other electronic but once I've been driving for a while (guessing 10 miles?) the volts drop. Is there anyway I can bypass the radiator fan option/power totally from my stock system? I was thinking about unplugging the Coolant Temperature Sensor connection so the computer/module that controls the fan won't pick it up. Suggestions? |
