94 budget mods...help

Alright i have a 94 with minimal mods right now
headers, no cats, flowmaster mufflers, and a cai
i just got the car and its not as fast as i thought it would be. I also have a 96 3.8 liter which i think might even be faster.
I need help on what mods i can get to increase hp bad. And if there is a possibility to tune it so it runs better, i know most tuners are for the 96+ models only. Any advice would be appreciated

Heads, cam, intake, blower, nitrous, gears, etc. First thing i would do is gears and an aluminum flywheel.

1. Clean the MAF sensor wire element.
2. Replace dizzy cap, rotor, plug wires, plugs, and fuel filter if not already done.
3. Upgrade fuel pump before adding more HP.
4. Remove unnecessary weight.
5. Gear swap: 3.55 for manual, 3.73 for automatic.

Right now it seems to idle and run a little rough, you guys both said to clean the MAF wires, would it be better to buy a new MAF?

Oh and what would I need to do to turbo my car? I'd rather just find a cheap kit and try that out. Besides the bigger fuel pump/injectors what else would I really need? I can run about 8lbs of boost on stock internals right?

A cheap turbo kit is a bad idea on the stock internals. The 5.0 engine was not designed to run much more then 300-350 horse and you would probably hit that at 6lbs of boost. Also finding a shop to tune the T4M0 ecu can be difficult. Of course you would have to tune the car with any major change that you make to the engine or it will run like a dog.

Conclusion: don't buy cheap chinese ebay turbo kits.

5.0's can only handle 300-350 HP??? Damn, where have i been Your motor stock can handle about 450-500RWHP with a good tune. First i would do plugs, wires, cap, rotor, oil change, new filter and bump the timing to 16* Make sure you run 93 octane though. After that get some 3:73's if you have a stick and 4:10's for an automatic. Turbo kits are hard to install if you don't know mechanics....And paying for an installation is expensive.

If you're asking how, just take it to a local shop and ask them to do it for you. You need a timing light to shoot the car.

Mine was slow as shit until I did a tune up...turned out I had the original Ford fuel filter on it.

She's in the shop right now, getting an IRS and 4.10 gears put in, I'm hoping to get it back tomorrow or saturday, I'll be sure to come on and let everyone know how I like them.

no fair i want irs. as for cheap mods eliminate the ac and smog/air pump less drag=more power with only 800 bucks for mods your best bang for your buck would be a wet shot.that said there are other mods you could do but for the most hp gain for the money the no2 is my opinion.

That's a lot more than I have right now. In that case do:

1. Free Modifications
To those you can also add AC delete, underdrive crank pulley, and shorter belt.

2. Weight Reduction

3. The first 3 items I mentioned earlier.

You'll notice a significant difference and it'll cost you very little money. You can do the gear swap after you've saved up a bit more.

New plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and coil could do ya some good too if the car is running rough.
