tricking emissions

So i have an o/r x-pipe and it is time to go through emissions. I have my old pipes, but dont really want to go through the trouble of putting them on, testing, then changing them again. Is there a way to pass emissions w/o the cats? or is that something i have to offer the mechanic 50 bucks and a 6 pack to get away with? has anybody had success with this?

There are 2 ways I know of that don't require greasing the wheels. You can get MIL Eliminators from somewhere like AM
1994-1998 Mustang Exhaust Accessories at AmericanMuscle.com - Free Shipping!
Or you can get a tuner that will give you more power and the ability to remove the trouble code for the exhaust.
SCT SF3/X3 Power Flash Mustang Custom Tuner w/ 3 Free Custom Tunes - 3rd Generation SCT XCalibrator - FREE SHIPPING!

Both of these should work fine as long as there is *no* physical inspection of the exhaust system in your state or a sniffer test.

Good Luck

MIL eliminators, or you could put on some high flow cats, or even fake cats.... you know the kind that are just a straight piece of pipe that looks like a converter

Depends on the nature of emissions testing in your state/county/province/whatever.

No cats is gonna make it pretty hard for you to pass a sniffer test.

What MIL eliminator are you guys talking about? You know that with these cars there's only 2 o2 sensors and they don't get deleted when you put an o/r pipe on there right? I have a feeling that you guys are talking about deleting the rear 2 o2 sensors on your cars seeing as how you're both new edge owners.

Like reverenddexter understated on purpose, you're gonna have a hell of a time passing a sniffer w/o cats. Unless you tune for it and have a cam with 0 or negative overlap, it isn't going to happen and even then it'll be tough.... better make that a 12 pack.

Even if you "mask" the rear o2 sensors it won't complete the catalytic efficiency tests. If they hook up to the obdii port, you will probably fail in most states. If they run a sniffer you will fail for sure. If they do a visual inspection you will fail for sure.

are garages commonly open to these types of offers? I have never tried before, any mechanics on here let me know. The price for emissions in CT is 20 bucks. Would you take a 50 dollar offer to pass a non-catted car?

Can't speak for CT, but in CA it's a pretty serious offense for the garage to pass your car illegally, so you'll probably get thrown out and asked to never come back.

A pint of methyl hydrate will work too.. Just make sure there's no more than 1/4 tank of fuel in the car when you put it in!!

Its a 95, does CT even put it on a sniffer? I've never had an issue with a 95 or older.

Unfortunetly CT still requires emmision testing for 95s. It must pass a visual and a sniffer. All data is recorded via video cam to ensure no wrong doings. It may be possible to slip a $50 to the mechanic to give the visual a nod but the sniffer must still be passed legitimatly
