MAF question
i bought a 1995 cobra a few months back, and one of the things that needs changed is the stock mass air sensor. i was just wondering if there is a particular brand i should go towards...are the granatellis worth the extra 60 over the bbk? my car has afr heads, comp cam, blah blah. should i go for a 76mm or what? thanks

What injectors do you have?

IŽd say go with the BBK, I have one and has worked perfect for me... just make sure to send them the calibration for your 24 lb injectors and if you have a CAI or stock intake

alright, ill probably go ahead and go that route especially since im getting a bbk throttlebody anyway. is it just me or does american muscle have a very small selection of mass air flow sensors for the sn95 5.0s?. but bbk said to contact them specially if i have a cobra so i guess i have to go through that crap but it should be worth it in the end. i can't believe whoever owned this car put heads, cam, and nitrous in it but left the mass air flow sensor alone of all little things.

If its a true cobra, with 24# injectors, you need to order a MAF for 19# injectors.

What adder said above is correct, ford used the same MAFS for the the GT, and the Cobra. The difference was the computer, the J4J1 ecu was programmed to run 24# injectors, and the T4M0 ecu to use 19#. Ive heard that the stock mafs are actually better to run then the aftermarket ones and that you should have no problem flowing upwards of 350+ horse using one. Ive run 30# injectors using the stock maf with a tune to the ecu.

I got my bbk maf from brothers performance, my stock maf died and the stock ones werenŽt available at the time so i went ahead with the bbk one, have it for a year already and no problems.. i have felt a little difference with the bbk from the stock one and besides that it looks very good in the engine bay, go with the bbk i say just make sure you get the one for your cobra

im just having trouble pulling the trigger on this.
Pro-M 75MM Flanged Bullet Mass Air Meter for Ford Mustang, Ford Trucks, Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis, Ranger, Towncar, Falcon, Cobra - Pro-M Racing, LLC. ^^ that is the one i'll be buying, and it asks vehicle (94-95 cobra), does it have a cold air intake (which is yes), and what size injectors...that gets me. i know they're 24lb'ers but i have to put 19. is that correct? |

Pro M is a good choice. The '94-'95 GT's and Cobras have exactly the same stock MAF housing and sensor. The difference is that the Cobra computer has a different MAF transfer curve programmed into it to deal with 24lb injectors.
Just click on 94-95 Mustang Cobra from the drop-down menu and enter 24 as the injector size.

cool thanks. i hate to keep asking questions but i just want to get it right the first time. where it asks for the cold air calibration... i have a "cold air intake" but not TECHNICALLY a cold air kit since it doesn't have the box/shield thing to keep out the hot air. so would i do the cold air calibration or no?

Looks like you have a hot air intake. Spend the $200 on a real CAI kit, changing your maf is not going to do anything for your performance.

A CAI is no more than $40 on ebay

No need even for that. Just get a section of exhaust piping with a bend, relocate the filter to the inner fenderwell, and block off the gap with a metal plate so you'll have a homebrew fenderwell CAI. You can even paint the plate and pipe in your favorite color.

IŽd say go with the ebay CAI for 40$ very cheap and no difference from the brand intakes, i have one and has work good for me..... why make a custom intake when you can find cold air intakes exactly for our cars.. its your decision.. think about getting a CAI because your setup is only drawing hot air from the engine bay... search on american muscle, ebay or other websites to see what you like and according to you budget...

alright if you guys insist, i won't spend the 210 on a maf yet. i'm just looking for bang for your buck purchases right now. i like giving my business to AM so i'll get a real cai from there for now.
