Tranny and Check engine light issues.... interesting problems, help appreciated!

ok so... two different problems here.

1.) I have been getting a check engine light on my car, finally pulled the code and it says that the heated O2 sensor indicates my left bank is running lean, what could this be caused by? bad sensor? something on the other side of the cylinder? (ie MAF, intake, plugs, injectors, etc?) The cats have been punched out of the exhaust, but it IS a stock midpipe. Should i get a retune to correct this problem? no cats means less backpressure, means gas flows faster past those sensors, means different reading, am i right?

2.) when i am shifting, as i engage each gear, i can feel the synchros/gears engaging. This doesnt seem healthy (all stock drivetrain, no mods) for the tranny, and it is disconcerting while driving. The clutch has been slipping if i try to give it too much gas at highway speeds, such as when i downshift into 4th to do an easy pass, the RPMs spike and i have to feather the throttle. this to me points to a worn clutch. another weird thing is, only the top 1/4 of my clutch pedal's throw is actually used to engage/disengage the clutch, from the feel of it, so could this mean a maladjusted cable?
