Trying to hit my goal of 300hp...suggestions?

OK...so this is what i decided. If i could get my car in the 300hp range i would be a happy camper. I have a 1995 5.0 HO and so far i have Full exhaust wit flow masters dumped at rear, 3.73 gears, short throw, CAI. I think i wanna add Ud pulleys, TFS, and stage two clutch. Think ill be close? What else could i do to tip the scale a lil bit. Besides the juice.

Horsepower isn't cheap and if you've never installed heads before you probably want to have someone do it for you. You are looking at about $2000 in parts.

+1!

It would be very wise if you had a shop install the heads. I took the head off my mazda today to fix a spark plug that is jammed, and it's not that hard, but it will be easy to put back on b/c you just line up the timing marks and your set, but i'm not sure how you would get everything to line up if you go with a cam/head swap, but then again i have never done one.

if you do heads/cam/stroker kit, do it all at once, it will save you money on the labor portion. and if you can pull the engine yourself it will be cheaper

The hardest part of installing heads is adjusting the valves. If you decide to do it yourself, then one thing to make sure of is that you have at least .0100 between all three of the coils on the valve springs when it is fully compressed/valve fully open. Other than that it is pretty simple to adjust them, there are many different ways to do it. There are also plenty of sites on the net that give you a step by step.

I wouldn't go with nitrous, you can get your desired power out of that engine without adding n2o, but you could always have the nitrous just in case a new Z06 wanted to mess with you

Stock is ~190-195rwhp on a 5-speed 5.0 GT.
With basic bolt-ons (CAI, MAF, TB, headers, midpipe, catbacks, pulleys) you'll have ~230-235rwhp.
You won't get beyond 235rwhp with the stock heads/cam/intake so to reach 300rwhp, you'll need to change at least 2 out of the 3 (heads & intake). You'll also need other supporting mods like a higher-flow fuel pump, bigger injectors, and a tune.
