Blew my rear end

Well i was on the interstate today when i found a older BMW to play with so we raced a little then like 5-10min later i start feeling this vibration and at first i just think its the road so i start changing lanes but nothing changed so that's when i realized it wasn't the road and it was my car so i start pulling over to the emergency lane and by the time i got onto the shoulder my car was shaking horribly but with how loud my exhaust is i couldn't hear any kind of drivetrain noise. so i get pulled over and i get out and look under my car to see my driveshaft hanging iwth the snout of the pinion shaft still attached and twisted off. then a taxi pulls over and tells my my car was on fire, im guessing it was from the gear lube hitting the exhaust or sparks or something and somebody called the fire department and they came out lol. well i had to get it towed back to the house and now im i have to tear the rear end apart and make sure the trac-loc is salvageable because i already have new gears, bearings, and everything i need to rebuild the new rear end for the new gears i was waiting to install after i finished my exhaust

yea the BMW was no competition it was a 4dr E36 which from my quick google search revealed that they are slow even for my mostly stock 94

and yea i was lucky i bought the gears and install kit over a year ago and ive just had it sitting in my room waiting to put in but i wont have any time to tear into the rearend till next weekend which sucks but atleast ive got a vehicle i can borrow

well i didnt get a chance to go look at the car this past weekend cause stuff came up but i went over there today and jacked it up and this is the first thing i saw

so it looks like im gonna have to track down a new rear differential because this one is only good for scrap metal now

and here is a picture into the rear end from where the pinion shaft should be
