Suggestions for 5.0 replacement

Hello
I am buying a 95 GT convertible with an auto trans that has a bad engine. I was going to find a 94 or 95 engine but my buddy with a 03 Cobra said any later year mod engine bolts in with the computer/harness. On another forum I was told the Explorer engine has better heads and intake than stock Mustang 5.0, is that a simple swap? I haven't done a swap before so want it as simple as it can be.

Thanks
Joe

the explorer 5.0 is a direct replacement

and its actually smog legal too

*edit* and your buddy fed you a plate of lies. clearly hasnt got a clue. You would need a new K-member, and a new transmission. Not to mention a completely different wiring harness and computer system.

Cool

you might have to change the oil pan and pick up tube, infact im almost positive you will.

also i highly doubt the accessory brackets on the exploder will be the same as the brackets on the mustang so you will have to swap them over too.

The Explorer engine does indeed have better heads/intake but it also has a milder cam than the Mustang GT. It's a simple swap as long as you use only the long block engine with intake. Just bolt your existing accessories to it.
