My $350 GT

My wife bought me this Mustang from the dealership I work at as a birthday present. We took it in on a trade and let me tel you, the kid that had it before ran it into the ground. The motor is being pulled and rebuilt and then I'm taking it to work to finish the body work and paint it. I'll keep everyone updated as I get more work done.

Thanks I will. I told my wife I'm hoping to have it on the road by 4th of July. I'm really hoping it doesn't take that long.

Good deal even if it's rough. You could sell the roller for $1000 or so.

Thanks for the replies. Cobra front and rear are already decied on. Motor is going to be bored to a 306 for now. Definitely not going to be stock but haven't decided on a posts combo yet so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Yes working at a dealership has its perks. I talked to my boss and he told me that when I get close to ready for paint to let him know and he could get all the materials for me and I could paint it for 500 dollars. He said it would be a training exercise, wink wink. I'm not going to tell you what color though, you'll have to just wait and see. Asl I will say is that it won't be the same color it is now. Out of town this weekend (finally doing Christmas with my family) so I won't get any work done until later. Thanks for all the replies and I promise to keep everyone updated.

Sorry for the double post. If there is more that come up I apologize. My phone is messing up. Also I meant that I need help deciding a parts combo not posts. Heads, cai, upper and lower intake, throttle body, ignition, stuff like that. Any ideas would be great.
Forgot to mention that a set of 97 98 tail lights are being thought of as well.

not to bad of a pick up for the price.

For $350 I would have probably parted it out and made a good deal profit, haha.

Hows the interior look?

as for your suggestions, I suggest a 306 rebuilt, gt40 heads, tfs1 cam, and a procharger with about 15lbs of boooooooost.

wish I would have went that route with my car. would have spent the same amount I have in it now, but be much quicker

The interior is shot so I'm going to be ordering new interior. I think I'm going to rry and modify some seats out of 68 for the front and back to stock on the back seat. I would love to do a turbo but can't afford it now, maybe in the future though.

Yep, he beat mine too. I got an '87 GT for $500 from my neighbor who couldn't figure out how to troubleshoot why the car wasn't starting (he graduated from the same Automotive Technology associates degree program that I later went into)........I jumpered the power across the inertia switch and the car fired right up. It had a Cobra intake, bbk shorties, March pulleys and ram air intake, lowering springs, rear lower control arms, 3.55 gears etc........I replaced a few more things, got ready to do a Mass Air conversion on it but sold it before I had everything I needed and because it had rusted through floorpans at the pinchwelds. I rented it a coworker for $100 for two weeks before I sold it for $1700 plus the $200 in gas that the buyer prepaid me so that I would drive it from Rhode Island to Pennsylvannia.

Now I have a '93 LX 4-banger that I got for $500 and is in much better condition than the '87 GT.

Good luck and look forward to the buildup/restoration!
