HELP!! Cobra T-5 NEEDED!!

Hey I am trying to get a Cobra Spec T-5 for my 94 Cobra. I blew the tranny out about 5 years ago and I am starting the build the car back up. If anyone could help me find one I would really appreciate it. Thank you!!!

buy an aftermarket transmission.

you dont need a "Cobra T5" either... any 94-98 T5 will work just fine.

is there any reason why you choose to settle on a transmission that you are hardly likely to ever get? You know there were less than 10,000 of them made... 16 years ago..right?

If you NEED a T5, get one from a 94-98 and call it a day. If you want a transmission that is actually worth a damn, get an aftermarket trans, like a tremec 3550/tko/tko500/tko600/t56

Just over 5,000 actually. The only difference between the cobra t-5 and standard were phosphate coated gears..(which isn't really a huge improvement.) Most aftermarket trannys are much stronger.

haha. Wanna bet? Also, your numbers include the 94's. I just counted the 95's since this guy wants an exact tranny. I guess I lose by default since now I realize his is a 94' .

Whats your avatar Adder? Is that a real product or just a mock supercharger?

I'm probably going to end up sticking a T5 from a v6 mustang into my Cobra since they're plentiful and pretty cheap around here just so that I can drive the car again.

good call... just dont get a 99+, you would need to do some internal work to get it to accept the drive gear for the speedo... which is a PITA

Derek man, theres a good place called johnsons truck and mustang out on bainbridge blvd. in chesapeake. he can get you a trans. I'm looking for one for the time being before I do the whole termi swap. Lemme know if you need the number. it's a salvage place but he's got some aftermarket stuff too

yeah, it sucked pretty bad when I found an '02 T5 that was really tight and then looked at the magnetic speedometer and found that there was no way to hook it up to my car. I know about the internal work and though I would still come out ahead as far as price on the tranny, it just isn't worth it because its still going to eventually break behind my engine.

I've been to that place. They charge a ridiculous price for some of their stuff; for the money they want for some of their parts, you could buy it brand new.

I figured you might have. I saw your cardomain from when you were stationed here. Great stuff you had in there BTW your page is in ym favs lol. Yea some of the stuff is redick, but some isnt so bad. Will the V6 work, like a direct bolt in? WHat would have to be changed?

Well thank you lol......I'm still working on updating the section for the 1993 Mustang.
Yes the v6 trans is a direct bolt in as long as its from a 1994-1998 model. Starting in 1999 the v6 T5 used a magnetized (electrical) VSS which will not work with our VSS harness since ours is gear-driven (mechanical).

I don't know if he's still stationed out there but I had a buddy named Shannon who was an MM3 on the Eisenhower. He has a black '95 Cobra.
