Still no answer to how a smaller valve, smaller intake runner, smaller cross sectioned head will perform better. That's pretty much exactly the response I expected. Those are all factors that play into a heads performance and an AFR 165 can't compare to a TW170 in any of those categories. Those are FACTs. AFR 165s need to be compared to edelbrock performers. You can dance around it all you want, but there is no denying it.

Again like I have stated throughout this entire thread Im not hear to compare the two heads I want to see how the 165 will be holding him back on his HCI build. Which was your statement from the beggining not mine. I know the potential of the TW and the AFR and Im not arguing that point and I havent at all in this thread. I am arguing the statement you made about the 165 holding back his hci build and yet you have still showed no evidence that it will.

They hold it back because he can make more power with the TW170s.

I hate to open back up an old thread but I had some new ideas. What if i got the gt40p heads and had them ported and polished. This would save me money and they will still flow as good and then they also have the smaller combustion chambers like I want. Can you give me some details about what i'm looking at? Will these heads work with roller rockers? Will I have to get different headers? What is an average cost for a port and polish?

By the time you buy GT40P heads, have them ported with a 3-angle valve grind, and upgrade the valve springs, you'll have spent nearly as much money as you would need to buy a brand new pair of fully-assembled TFS 170's. Don't forget the 40+lb weight reduction benefit of having aluminium heads.

Yeah i thought about that too. I guess if I find some already ported and polished for a good deal, I will probably get them. You are defiantly right, probably would cost more money. What about my other questions. Will I have to get new headers? I have BBK shorties right now.

What is the max I should pay for a set of used ported GT40p heads? I found some that have been ported and bigger valves put in for $500. Is that pretty good?

Yeah that's not bad but you'd better find out if the valve springs have been upgraded, otherwise you're going to spend more money than you should.

I found a set of edelbrock performer heads for $500. The only thing is one of the heads is the new casting syle and the other head is the older casting style. Will this make a difference? Both part numbers are they same. This is a Cheap! price
